The 2020 NFL Draft is three weeks away from today. After watching tape on over 400 prospects, I can finalize my board.
Because of the worldwide pandemic shutting down any sense of normalcy, this year’s final grades are going to be off. Because of athletic testing being incomplete on nearly half of the prospects I watched tape on, I was forced to make some adjustments to final grades. Each player who didn’t record a RAS score was given a grade of 6 (1-10 scale). This may end up hurting most prospects who would have tested much higher than that and may help a few that wouldn’t have.
It is a tad disappointing that in the first year of my new grading system that it is so incomplete but here we are. Tape grades are the biggest percentage of final scores so for the most part, the system should work.
Over the next two weeks, I will breakdown each position group for the 2020 NFL Draft.
Today, let’s check in on the safeties.

The 2020 safety class isn’t deepest but there is good talent at the top. Xavier McKinney can play either safety spot and play them well. He has a tremendous range. I think Jeremy Chinn is a great athlete. He was an excellent playmaker at SIU and then proved his self at the Senior Bowl. Chinn showed he can run with slot receivers in the nickel and cover the deep middle. Another small schooler, Kyle Duggar, possesses similar skills to Chinn but I just like him a little less.
WHO AM I HIGHER ON THAN MOST?
Nigel Warrior has been a three-year starter for the Volunteers. He was extremely productive for Tennessee as a senior. Warrior finished with 60 tackles (36 solos), 7 PBUs, and four interceptions. He has nice range and ball skills. Unfortunately, he was unable to test because he didn’t receive a Combine invite.
WHO AM I LOWER ON THAN MOST?
Maybe I watched the wrong games of Ashtyn Davis. Maybe my eval is off. I just didn’t see Top 100 player when I watched him. Davis was hurt before playing in the Senior Bowl and then he also missed the Combine. I will probably end up being wrong on this one.
Next up, we will check in on the specialists.
