What to Watch: Week Six Prospect Platter

What to Watch

Eight games are on the docket for Deep Fried Draft in Week Six. I will tell you what to watch, and more importantly, whom to watch in this week’s games that I will be consuming.

What to Watch: Week Six Prospect Platter

10/3/19

Georgia Southern @ South Alabama 6:30 PM ESPNU

20 CB Kindle Vildor Georgia Southern Sr 5’11 180
4 CB Monquavion Brinson Georgia Southern* Sr 5’11 190
12 DL Tyree Turner South Alabama Sr 6’0 285

I will have the privilege of covering this game in person for DFD. South Alabama three tech Tyree Turner was injured early against Nebraska in the opener. He hasn’t played since. For Georgia Southern, it will be a great opportunity to see both of their corners in action. In particular, I look forward to seeing potential mid-round pick Kindle Vildor.

10/5/19

Iowa @ Michigan 11:00 AM FOX

74 OT Tristan Wirfs Iowa Jr 6’5 320
4 QB Nathan Stanley Iowa Sr 6’4 212
77 OT Alaric Jackson Iowa Jr 6’6 320
94 EDGE A.J. Epenesa Iowa Jr 6’4 277
11 CB Michael Ojemudia Iowa Sr 6’0 199
24 CB Lavert Hill Michigan Sr 5’11 177
20 QB Shea Patterson Michigan Sr 6’1 193
7 LB Khaleke Hudson Michigan Sr 5’11 220
9 WR Donovan Peoples-Jones Michigan Jr 6’1 208
6 LB Joshua Uche Michigan Sr 6’3 217
4 EDGE Mike Danna Michigan Sr 6’2 257
51 C Cesar Ruiz Michigan Jr 6’4 320
74 G Ben Bredeson Michigan Sr 6’4 308

Hawkeyes edge rusher A.J. Epenesa hasn’t gotten off to the hot start I expected. The junior needs to show more in this game. Is Donovan Peoples-Jones healthy? When I last saw the Wolverines, DPJ was sluggish on the field. Mike Danna did not play against Wisconsin so it will be nice to see him square off against Tristan Wirfs.

Oklahoma State @ Texas Tech 11:00 AM FS1

2 WR Tylan Wallace Oklahoma State Jr 6’0 185
4 CB A.J. Green Oklahoma State Sr 6’1 190
78 OT Terence Steele Texas Tech* Sr 6’6 310

This will be my first look at Oklahoma State this year. I can’t wait to see the big-play receiver, Tylan Wallace. This will be my first non-highlight reel exposure to him.

Utah State @ LSU 11:00 AM SECN

90 DL Rashard Lawrence LSU Sr 6’3 301
9 QB Joe Burrow LSU Sr 6’3 214
2 WR Justin Jefferson LSU Jr 6’1 185
77 OT Saahdiq Charles LSU Jr 6’4 305
79 C Lloyd Cushenberry LSU Jr 6’3 309
93 EDGE Justin Thomas LSU Jr 6’5 268
91 DL Breiden Fehoko LSU Sr 6’3 291
45 LB Michael Divinity LSU Sr 6’1 238
8 LB Patrick Queen LSU Jr 6’1 232
6 LB Jacob Phillips LSU Jr 6’3 229
22 CB Kristian Fulton LSU Sr 5’11 192
9 S Grant Delpit LSU Jr 6’2 203
4 EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson LSU Jr 6’3 239
10 QB Jordan Love Utah State Jr 6’3 225
10 EDGE Tipa Galeai Utah State Sr 6’5 230

This is the game every NFL scout will look at for QB Jordan Love. Can he handle an LSU defense that has 9 players that will likely be in NFL camps next year? Jordan Love needs to clean up his spotty decision making.

LSU QB Joe Burrow has emerged from being an also-ran to being a potential first-round pick. He shouldn’t have much trouble with the Aggies defense.

Auburn @ Florida 2:30 PM  CBS

3 DL Marlon Davidson Auburn Sr 6’2 282
5 DL Derrick Brown Auburn Sr 6’4 316
70 OT Prince Teno Wanagho Auburn Sr 6’6 301
91 EDGE Nick Coe Auburn Jr 6’4 282
24 S Daniel Thomas Auburn Sr 5’11 208
92 EDGE Jabari Zuniga Florida Sr 6’3 245
13 QB Feleipe Franks Florida Jr 6’5 240
12 WR Van Jefferson Florida Sr 6’1 197
10 WR Josh Hammond Florida Sr 6’0 194
89 WR Tyrie Cleveland Florida Sr 6’1 206
66 C Nick Buchanan Florida Sr 6’2 291
5 CB C.J. Henderson Florida Jr 6’0 191
2 S Brad Stewart Florida Jr 6’0 200
22 RB Lamical Perine Florida Sr 5’11 221

The Auburn defense has been ridiculously good this season. Derrick Brown has been dump trucking offensive linemen all season. It will be interesting to see if the center Nick Buchanan is up to the challenge.

Illinois @ Minnesota 2:30 PM BTN

2 RB Reggie Corbin Illinois Sr 5’10 200
55 DL Jamal Milan Illinois Sr 6’2 305
1 RB Rodney Smith Minnesota Sr 5’11 210
6 WR Tyler Johnson Minnesota Sr 6’1 200
45 EDGE Carter Coughlin Minnesota Sr 6’3 245
21 LB Kamal Martin Minnesota Sr 6’3 235

This is my first look at the Illini in 2019. Corbin is averaging seven yards per carry so far in 2019. He will run into a top defensive unit featuring Carter Coughlin and Kamal Martin. Martin didn’t play against Georgia Southern a few weeks ago when I last watched the Gophers.

Michigan State @ Ohio State 6:30 PM ABC

99 DL Raequan Williams Michigan State Sr 6’3 295
14 QB Brian Lewerke Michigan State Sr 6’3 212
62 OT Luke Campbell Michigan State Jr 6’5 290
48 EDGE Kenny Willekes Michigan State Sr 6’3 260
6 S David Dowell Michigan State Sr 6’0 196
25 WR Darrell Stewart Michigan State Sr 6’2 218
32 LB Tuf Borland Ohio State Jr 6’1 230
2 RB J.K. Dobbins Ohio State Jr 5’9 214
75 OT Thayer Munford Ohio State Jr 6’5 320
18 EDGE Jonathan Cooper Ohio State Sr 6’3 257
2 EDGE Chase Young Ohio State Jr 6’5 265
67 DL Robert Landers Ohio State Sr 6’1 283
3 CB Damon Arnette Ohio State Sr 5’11 195
1 CB Jeffrey Okudah Ohio State Jr 6’0 199
39 LB Malik Harrison Ohio State Sr 6’3 245
14 WR K.J. Hill Ohio State Sr 6’0 198

Michigan State defenders Raequan Williams and Kenny Willekes are two of the best. They will be tested by the Ohio State offensive line, especially Thayer Munford.

Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young may be the top overall player in this class. Young has eight sacks in five games. He is so quick to close. Corners Damon Arnette and Jeffrey Okudah are going make life hell for Spartan QB Brian Lewerke. Lewerke is slightly better than the last time I saw him.

Vanderbilt @ Mississippi 6:30 PM SECN

67 OT Alex Givens Mississippi Sr 6’5 304
93 EDGE Qaadir Sheppard Mississippi Sr 6’3 240
40 DL Josiah Coatney Mississippi Sr 6’3 316
22 RB Scottie Phillips Mississippi Sr 5’10 211
80 TE Jared Pinkney Vanderbilt Sr 6’4 250
15 QB Riley Neal Vanderbilt Sr 6’5 225
5 RB Keshawn Vaughn Vanderbilt Sr 5’9 215
16 WR Kalija Lipscomb Vanderbilt Sr 6’0 200
10 EDGE Dayo Odeyingbo Vanderbilt Jr 6’5 265

The Commodores are struggling. I thought with their offensive talent Vanderbilt would be a better squad. Riley Neal has struggled. The former grad transfer needs to do a better job of feeding Lipscomb and Pinkney.

Until next time…
