NFL Draft Snack: Standouts from Georgia Southern and South Alabama

NFL Draft

I got to witness some nice #FunBelt action tonight at Ladd-Peebles Stadium between the South Alabama Jaguars and the Georgia Southern Eagles. The stadium that will be the center of the NFL and NFL Draft universe in three months saw a handful of players that could find themselves on NFL rosters over the next couple of years.

Let’s look at a few of these players.

NFL DRAFT STANDOUTS

GEORGIA SOUTHERN

CB KINDLE VILDOR

Vildor entered tonight as my #11 corner prospect and #96 overall ranked player. This is after one round of film viewing. Kindle Vildor shows nice range and ability to press. I looked forward to seeing how he competes against some of these sequoias that South Alabama trots out. Vildor looks tremendous in man coverage. I saw more out of him in the run game this week than against Minnesota. Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy tweeted that he thinks Vildor will be the first Sunbelt player drafted. I can’t argue with him.

CB MONQUAVION BRINSON

Brinson is on the Senior Bowl watchlist. He sees more action because teams don’t attack Vildor as much. Brinson will attack in run defense. He had some communications issues on a 75-yard TD pass.

K TYLER BASS

Another Senior Bowl watch list member, Tyler Bass entered tonight 10/11 on field goals with a long of 47. In the first half against the Jaguars, he had a 48-yard attempt blocked and made a 46-yard kick.

SOUTH ALABAMA JAGUARS

RB TRA MINTER

Minter is also on the Senior Bowl watchlist. He entered tonight averaging eight yards per rush while also catching 16 balls. Tra Minter also returns kicks and punts for the Jags.

TE KHAMERON TAYLOR

Taylor makes this list because he has intriguing size At 6’4″ 270 pounds, the junior is a whole lot of man. Can that translate to an NFL tight end prospect? Well, coming into tonight Khameron Taylor only had two catches, one of which was a score.

CB TRAVIS REED

The senior corner looks the part at 6’2″ 185. I didn’t expect him to get tested often tonight facing an option offense and I was correct.

DL TYREE TURNER

Unfortunately, the talented Jaguars three tech missed his fifth consecutive game with an ankle sprain. South Alabama hopes to have Tyree Turner back for the game against Troy in two weeks.
