The 2019 Supplemental Draft has come and gone. Washington State safety Jalen Thompson was the only selection. The Arizona Cardinals selected the former Cougar in the fifth round. Arizona will now forfeit a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. West Virginia WR Marcus Simms was not selected. However, he did sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent.
Thompson joins a young, athletic secondary in the desert. He joins 2018 draft picks Budda Baker and Rudy Ford. Along with veterans Patrick Peterson and Robert Alford, Jalen Thompson joins fellow rookies Deionte Thompson (Alabama) and Byron Murphy. In fact, Jalen will likely be competing with Deionte for immediate playing time.
Marcus Simms has an outside shot at making the Jags roster. Simms joins a free-for-all to win the Jacksonville 6th wide receiver spot. He joins Marshall’s Tyre Brady amongst several others competing for that spot.
